I'm a designer from Victoria, BC — thanks for taking an interest in my work and visiting my website! Feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect.
But, in the meantime here's a bit about me...
As the Director of User Experience at a leading web development agency, I lead a team that specializes in crafting innovative digital solutions that drive user engagement and align with our clients' strategic business goals.
With over 15 years in User Experience (UX) Design, including 12 years of remote work and hybrid team management, I bring extensive expertise to my role, ensuring high-quality and impactful user experiences.
I am a strategic problem-solver with strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions. My dedication to design excellence is reflected in data-driven results and the positive feedback I receive from peers, stakeholders, and end-users.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a keen ability to empathize with users and translate their needs into intuitive and engaging design solutions. By advocating for a user-centred approach, I have consistently achieved success in aligning design with core business objectives—demonstrating that 'happy customers = happy bottom line'.
My experience working on cross-disciplinary teams has underscored the importance of effective communication and collaboration, ensuring that design and development are seamlessly integrated. As a Designer, I take responsibility for guiding projects from conception through development and beyond, rigorously testing and tracking results to gain valuable insights that will support continued product refinement.
I've identified that both UX Design and Scrum are grounded in continuous iteration and incremental improvement. As technology and methodologies evolve, I strive to apply these principles to my own growth as a designer, staying current, adaptable and innovative through continuous learning.
I grew up in the lower mainland of British Columbia, with a love for drawing, art, music, and exploring the outdoors. I developed an interest in design at a relatively early age, when I discovered the world of 90's skate and snowboard graphics — stickers, t-shirts, decks, etc — and began to design my own. I was lucky to have the opportunity to learn Photoshop and Illustrator back in '98, just as the online world was gaining momentum.
In 2003 I moved to Calgary, Albera, where I attended the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly Alberta College of Art + Design). I excelled in both design theory and studio courses, receiving formal education in Graphic Design, Illustration, Print Making, Marketing, and Digital Media. I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications.
After graduation, I was eager to return to BC. I settled in Kelowna, where I began my career in web design at Acro Media. But I always knew that I'd eventually end up on Vancouver Island.
In 2012 I moved to Victoria, where my career took a slight detour into print media. I worked for Homes & Living Magazine until 2014, after which I returned to my role at Acro Media, supporting the transition to rebrand as Acro Commerce. I now work remotely from my home in Central Saanich, as the Director of User Experience at Acro Commerce.
These days I'm enjoying family life on the Saanich Peninsula, hunting down farm markets, paddle boarding and exploring the coast and trails with our dog.
